Mom's Chocolate Filled Bon-Bons

This is another simple cookie recipe that always finds its way in to Mom's Christmas selection.

  • 3/4 cup butter or shortening
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts (optional)
  • 48 milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Using an electric mixer, cream shortening and sugars until fluffy. Add egg and extracts and beat well.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, salt, nuts and mix well.
  4. Form into 1 inch balls. Press each ball around a kiss so kiss is completely covered (like a chocolate covered cherry).
  5. Bake 12 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet. Do not overbake. Cool on wire rack.

I was pretty excited about this particular Bzz campaign. I've been a coffee drinker all of my adult life and really thought I could do this report particular justice. I've drank bought and coffee at all levels: high end beans you grind yourself, middle of the road grinds, store brands and even generic. I've pretty much had it all. ~Big Al's~ Subs

He uses the same dough recipe as he does for the pizza. This is what I have tried to recreate here. I also made the sub sauce, which is near world famous. Bread Machine Ciabatta Rolls Recipe

I made these rolls to go with chicken and hummus sandwiches. The recipe for those sandwiches can be found here: http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978195133 1 1/2 cups water 1 T olive oil 1 1/2 t salt 1 t sugar 3 1/2 cups flour, plus additional for working 1 1/2 t active dry or bread machine yeast Place ingredients in bread machine according to manufacturer's specifications. Select dough cycle and press start. Dough will be quite sticky at the end of the cycle, DO NOT add more flour. Remove dough from bread pan and place on a lightly floured surface; cover with plastic wrap that has been sprayed with cooking spray, and let rest for 45 minutes. Spray two baking sheets with cooking spray. Divide dough into about 5-6 pieces (depending on how large you want your rolls), and form each into a ball.
