Fran S.'s Spicy Chili with Buttermilk Cheese Bread
Fran's original recipe is here:

I made a few changes. Rather than beef, such as the round steak recommended and "lean" pork, I used ground beef and a couple pork steaks. I used 1/2 cup dried red kidney beans, a homemade chili blend (my homemade chili powder, garlic powder, cumin seed, oregano and jalapeno powder) and then threw it all in the slow cooker.
The rest is pretty much as Fran wrote it, other than my habit of not measuring anything.
I cooked it for 1 hour on high and about 4 hours on low and served it with Buttermilk Cheese Bread, the recipe for which can be found here:

This was fantastic! The chili was very hearty, smoky and flavorful. Thanks Fran!
