Cooking Light's Szechuan Steak and Broccoli
I have posted the original amounts for the sauce, however, I added extra. I like a lot of sauce with Asian style dishes.
1 (1 lb) beef steak, trimmed (I used a Texas broil cut)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 t red pepper flakes
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 t cornstarch
1 t sugar
2 t dark sesame oil
1 head fresh broccoli, broken into florets
1/4 cup dry roasted peanuts
fresh cilantro for garnish
hot cooked rice (I used brown rice)
Cut steak diagonally across grain into thin slices. Combine steak, garlic, and pepper in a bowl; toss well to coat. Let rest 30 minutes.
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, cornstarch, and sugar in a small bowl, stirring til smooth. Set aside.
Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium high heat. Add broccoli and stir fry a couple minutes. Add meat mixture and stir fry a couple minutes.
Add soy sauce mixture to pan; cook til sauce thickened and meat is cooked to desired doneness.
Sprinkle each serving with cilantro and peanuts and serve over rice.
