Guinness Stout Corned Beef and Cabbage and Irish Soda Bread

OK, OK, so I gave in on making corned beef and cabbage. I didn’t really want to…..

While planning just the right corned beef dish for tonight, I had the following criteria in mind: must be for the slow cooker, use Guinness Stout and I wanted the potatoes to cook with the beef, rather than separately as some recipes called for. I also used a different recipe for Irish Soda Bread than I posted the other day. I found one that only called for four ingredients: flour, soda, salt and buttermilk. No raisins.

Dinner is served! And it was much better than I was expecting.
